Length of Quarters 10 Minutes Running
Breaks Halftime 2 Minutes. Between Quarters 1 Minute.
Clock Stops Time-outs & injuries always stop the clock. Clock runs, except for last 2 minutes of game.

If lead dips below 15 pts normal backcourt rule resumes.

When the lead meets or exceeds 20 pts, the clock will continue to run even during the final 2 minutes of the game.
If lead dips below 20 pts normal timing resumes.
Free-Throws On a free throw shot, non-shooting players may enter the lane on the release of the shot.
3 Point Field Goals Regulation 3-pt line
Time-Outs 4 total 1-minute time-outs. One additional time-out for each Over Time period. Unused TO's can carry over.
Overtime If the game is tied at the end of regulation, the gym manager has discretion on how to conclude the contest, including:

(1) OT period of 3 or less minutes:
Teams will tip-off as at the start of the game. See other listed rules for details about timeouts and and individual fouls. Note that the OT period is considered a continuation of the half, so the number of team fouls will carry over from the 2nd half.

(2) Free Throw Shootout:
In each round, both teams will select a player to shoot a free throw. Only a single round is necessary, as the game is won when a team makes their shot and the other misses within a round.

Coaches may select their kids to shoot in any order, but no player may shoot again until all players on the team have shot. After all players on the team have taken a turn in the shootout, the coach may again select their player to shoot in any order, but must again use all players before giving the player another attempt.
Foul Outs Players foul out when they have accrued 5 fouls in a game.
Note that any technical foul assessed to a player also counts toward their 5, and the limit of 5 is NOT increased if the game goes into overtime.
Technical Fouls: Players 2 Techs on a player for unsportsmanlike conduct = ejection from game and perhaps 1 or more games. Technical results in 2 free-throws + the ball
Technical Fouls: Coaches/Fans First technical, coach must remain seated for the remainder of the game. 2 Techs on a coach = ejection from the game.
3 Technical fouls on one team will result in FORFEITURE of Game. Technical results in 2 free-throws + the ball.
Fans displaying unsportsmanlike behavior will be removed from the gym and perhaps not allowed to attend future games.
1 and 1 Penalty Will become effective on 7th foul of each half.
Double Bonus (2 shots) Will become effective on 10th foul of each half.
# of Players If a team has only four players present at game time, the game can still be started. If a team has less than four players, the game will be forfeited by that team. A grace period of 5 minutes will be allowed after the scheduled start time before a forfeit is called. If one team is shorthanded, the opposing team will not be required to play with less than five players - though it would be a nice display of sportsmanship.
Pickup Players Picking up players from a younger age division is permitted (including post-season). Pickup players must be active participants in the league.
Coaching Area Only the head coach may stand in the bench area during the game. All assistants and players will remain seated.

MYL 6U Specific Rules

Length of Quarters 8 Minutes Running
Height of Goals 8 ft
Ball Size 27.5"
Foul Line Distance 8-10 ft
(coaches/refs option)
Half-time Free Throws During halftime, each player gets to attempt one free-throw that counts toward the score. If one team has fewer players than the other, the team with the fewer players gets to have kids take extra shot to even it up. The player(s) that gets to take the extra shot must be one that missed in the 1st round unless all players hit, at which time the coach gets to pick which of his players get to take the extra shot.
Coaching Area Coaches and up to one assistant coach are permitted on the floor, to direct and assist in positioning their players, but may not interfere with play. The spirit of this rule is to maximize instruction to this young age group. It is the at the referee's discretion if the coaching is interrupting play. On the second warning, the coach shall remain in the bench area.
Defense Defense must remain inside the 3-point arc. Defenders may leave the arc to retrieve a loose ball (with "loose ball" defined as a ball not under the control of any player), but their feet may not leave the arc to steal or deflect a pass.

On 3rd and following offenses, the Offense is awarded a free throw and the ball.
Ballhandling Ballhandlers are permitted a SINGLE infraction (walk or double-dribble) per touch. A second infraction will be whistled and a change of possession shall occur. When the ballhandler shoots or passes a new touch begins.
Intentional DelayIn 6u, it is normal for the offense to take some time to get the ball up the court and to begin to attempt to score. However, this should not be utilized as a tactic to run out the clock, as it is possible for the offense to cross half court but not cross the 3 point line.

If the referee feels the offense is intentionally attempting to delay and run out the clock by remaining outside the 3-point arc, possession shall be awarded to the defense.
